“Lelo”, “Ana Dolidze – For People” and “Freedom Square” Movement formed the coalition for upcoming Parliamentary Elections
The parties “Lelo,” “Ana Dolidze – For the People,” and the movement “Freedom Square” will participate in the October 26 parliamentary elections with a unified list. The presentation of this opposition alliance took place on July 17 in Tbilisi, at Europe Square.
During the event, the leader of “Lelo,” Mamuka Khazaradze, introduced the new allies, shaking hands with Ana Dolidze, leader of the “For the People” party, and Levan Tsutskiridze, leader of the “Freedom Square” movement. Khazaradze stated, “We will start working together in this way.”
“Without any exaggeration, the October 26 elections are a watershed—either we will remain stagnant and oppressed by the occupier, or we will join the free world with dignity, where our Georgian identity, citizenship, flag, and coat of arms will be held high. Unity is essential for this,” Mamuka Khazaradze noted. He added that this is just the first step and that “many interesting people or political groups” will join the union soon: “Not the ones you hear as rumours, but new faces – people who will take over the government of the country.”
Levan Tsutskiridze, leader of the “Freedom Square” movement, emphasized that despite their many differences, the coalition shares common values regarding the future of the country.
Singer Giorgi Ushikishvili also joined the opposition unity, stating that the opposition should prioritise unity and set aside all personal ambitions.
Constitutional Court accepts President Zurabishvili’s lawsuit against “Russian Law”
The Constitutional Court has accepted President Salome Zurabishvili’s lawsuit challenging the Russian law, as announced on the court’s website.
According to the information published, the case has been referred to the plenary session for consideration.
“The Law of Georgia on the Transparency of Foreign Influence fundamentally contradicts Article 78 of the Constitution of Georgia. Article 78 establishes that integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures is a significant goal for the functioning of state bodies, requiring them to take all necessary measures to ensure Georgia’s full integration into the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.”
President Salome Zurabishvili filed the lawsuit against Russian law in the Constitutional Court on July 15.
On July 17, 121 NGOs and media organizations also filed a lawsuit against the Russian law.
Ivanishvili claims, that “The Global War Party” is willing to return “agents” in the Government
At the opening of the Georgian Dream election campaign and the inauguration of the new central office, the honorary chairman of the party, Bidzina Ivanishvili, spoke once again about the “Global War Party” and claimed they aim to return “agents’ network” to the Georgian government.
According to Ivanishvili, this “agents’ network” comprises Saakashvili, Gvaramia, Zourabishvili, Khazaradze, Gakharia, Bokeria, and “other stateless politicians.”
“The desire of the Global War Party is clear. Having realized that we will not get involved in the war and cannot sacrifice Georgia to share the fate of Ukraine, they have made a last-ditch effort to return to power the “agents” – a unity of stateless individuals and the collective national movement – which will act as soon as they receive the command. This is why they are lobbying for the old and new National Movement – Saakashvili, Gvaramia, Zourabishvili, Khazaradze, Gakharia, Bokeria, and other stateless politicians who will sign up for any task. This attitude of ‘you either fight or leave’ is completely unacceptable, and the people of Georgia will respond on October 26,” Ivanishvili stated.
