Journalist and Cameraman of Mtavari TV were physically assaulted: two persons were arrested
Two individuals have been arrested for violence against a journalist and cameraman from the Mtavari TV.
According to the Special investigative service’s report, the brothers were arrested for a crime under Article 156, Part 2, Subsection “a” of the Criminal Code, which refers to the persecution of a person in connection with their professional activity. This crime is punishable by up to three years of imprisonment.
According to Mtavari TV, the suspects attacked and physically assaulted journalist Lado Menabde and the cameraman. Their reports indicate that Menabde was performing his duties in the village of Supsa when several people confronted the camera crew. Menabde stated that the attackers verbally and physically assaulted him and were angry at the Mtavari TV journalist.
“One person came first in a car. I was right here in the centre. He verbally insulted us and started swearing at the Mtavari TV and certain individuals. We didn’t pay attention because, unfortunately, this is a common reality, and we understood what we were dealing with. Then he got out, continued to verbally insult and swear at us. When we ignored him, he spat in my face and hit me,” Menabde said.

Speaking to journalists, Mamuka Mdinaradze discussed the attempted assassination of Trump and the so-called “threat” to Irakli Kobakhidze. He drew a parallel with the threat of sharing the fate of Robert Fico. According to the executive secretary of the Georgian Dream party, Irakli Kobakhidze and Trump share a common enemy – the Global War Party. Mdinaradze emphasized that the “terrorist attack” speculated by the authorities on Georgian Dream members and Bidzina Ivanishvili is not imaginary. This assertion is supported by the incidents involving Donald Trump, Robert Fico, and Viktor Orbán.
“The only [investigation related to the terrorist attack] I recall is the explosion involving Givi Targamadze. Wasn’t the suicide bomber attempting to create chaos in the country? Did we not witness the explosion of Givi Targamadze? Or recently, Irakli Kobakhidze hinted at an attempt on his life. If we saw a bullet lodged near Trump’s ear, although he was scratched and not killed, does this not seem like an assassination attempt by global forces and the Global War Party, which some speculate doesn’t exist?” Mdinaradze asked the journalists.
Mdinaradze finds it hard to believe that the incidents involving Trump, Fico, Orbán, and the perceived threats to Irakli Kobakhidze (referring to comments by Hungarian European Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi, which Kobakhidze interpreted as a threat) are mere coincidences.
State Security Service interrogates Georgian soldiers returning from Ukraine over coup plot investigation
The State Security Service has summoned Georgians fighting in Ukraine and war veterans for testimonies.
On July 20, Nadim Khmaladze, a member of the Georgian Legion fighting in Ukraine, posted on social media that he had been summoned for questioning by the State Security Service on charges of terrorism and coup d’état.
Khmaladze believes that the reason for his summons is his participation in protests against the Russian law and his two-year involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.
“I know exactly that the basis is my participation in actions against the Russian law, and more likely, because of my two years in Ukraine fighting. If I am fighting a terrorist country, then I am probably a terrorist. […] Elections are coming, and they don’t want people like me to be activly in it and I know for sure that this is the Kremlin’s order,” Khmaladze said.
Mamuka Mamulashvili, the head of the Georgian Legion fighting in Ukraine, stated that the persecution of Georgian fighters is an order from the Kremlin, being carried out by Bidzina Ivanishvili and the Georgian government.
