The Chairman of the Europe-Georgia Institute George Melashvili was interviewed by Swedish digital platform – Blankspot for Rasmus Canbäck’s piece on current political processes in Georgia.
The article analyzed the political crisis following the arrest of the chairman of Georgia’s largest opposition party, as well as processes leading to this situation. George Melashvili emphasized the wave of support which opposition received from international partners of Georgia. He pointed out that a number of his students are demonstrating around the country, since it’s important for them to defend Georgia’s western-minded future.
Melashvili described Georgian politics as extremely polarized and highlighted that this polarization hinders the process of dialogue between opposition and the ruling party.
